ICYMI: Earlier this month, the House voted to defund NPR and PBS. Lawmakers caved — largely along party lines — to Trump’s request to claw back $1.1 billion in already-approved funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supports popular and essential public-media stations across the country.

Meanwhile, militarized attacks against protesters and journalists in Los Angeles provided further proof of an escalating Trump administration effort to silence dissent and crush free speech by any means necessary.
