Dear Jack,
Hello, summer! As June concludes, we hope you are finding our weekly updates interesting and helpful. Have ideas for something more you would like to see? Drop us a note!
The Speaker's Emergency Committee on the Impacts of Federal Workforce and Funding Reductions
On June 20, 2025, the Speaker's Emergency Committee held its fourth meeting. During this session, testimony provided by regional leaders, economic experts, and members of the local business community unequivocally highlighted the detrimental effects of ongoing federal workforce and funding reductions across the Commonwealth.
A critical issue discussed during the meeting was the impact on education funding. According to expert panelists, Virginia is poised to experience a $61 million reduction in program funding directly attributable to the federal cuts. This development significantly complicates the state's long-standing objective of achieving full funding for Virginia's public school system, necessitating adjustments for substantial decreases in federal support.
The business community, particularly small enterprises, has also faced challenges stemming from the administration's tariff policies. The unpredictable nature of the current tariff system introduces considerable instability, actively discouraging investment and fostering widespread concern. This uncertainty is exacerbated by the anticipation of new tariffs scheduled to take effect in July.

Three Years Since The Dobbs Decision
Three years ago, the Supreme Court issued a consequential ruling that significantly altered the landscape of women's healthcare and reproductive rights. In the time since, we have observed tragic and preventable deaths, alongside profound challenges for couples seeking to safely build families. State legislatures have largely remained the final xxxxxx of protection in these critical areas. This year, success in Virginia's elections offers a pivotal opportunity to empower voters to enshrine these essential protections within the Virginia constitution.

Network NoVA's Women's Summit + Education Panel
I participated in Network NoVA’s Women’s Summit, where I had the privilege of speaking on a panel dedicated to education policy in Virginia. Attending events that convene leaders from across the Commonwealth to address critical community issues and foster solutions is consistently an inspiring experience. Engaging with leaders representing every corner of the Commonwealth on issues of shared importance is always a tremendous honor and allows policymakers to widen their perspective.

Team Reaser Summer Interns
This week, we held the first meeting for our new cohort of summer interns, a couple of which are pictured below. Our interns get to see firsthand how a state legislative office functions, the services we provide, and some of the important issues facing our community. If you or someone you know is interested in interning this summer, send an email to

In Due Process
On July 1, 2025, most bills signed into law from the 2025 Legislative Session will take effect. To highlight the most consequential of these laws, the Division of Legislative Services ("DLS") compiles a list of the laws most likely to affect Virginians' daily lives. Topics covered include education, utilities, social services, public safety, employment, and more. This is an excellent resource if you are interested in learning more about new laws that will begin to take effect.

Included in the laws going into effect this summer are eight of my bills, with topics ranging from gun violence prevention to providing our children with a world-class education. The session was productive, and our office continues to work hard for our community. Read my end-of-session summary here: [[link removed]] [link removed] [[link removed]]
How My Office Can Help
Navigating state agencies can be confusing and difficult at times. As the delegate for House District 27, I can help you communicate with state agencies such as the Virginia Employment Commission, Departments of Taxation, Social Services, Transportation, and more! I can also submit inquiries with those agencies on your behalf. There are limits to what I can do, however. For example, I am unable to expedite cases or force state agencies to favor your inquiry, provide legal advice or recommend a specific attorney, intervene with judicial issues, overturn decisions, or be involved with matters between private businesses.
Whether you require my office’s assistance, want to bring an issue to my attention or invite me to a community event, please reach out! If there is any way I can assist you, please reach out here: [link removed] [[link removed]]
Alongside constituent services, I can submit drafts for commending and memorial resolutions. If you know of a person or organization in the district that deserves special recognition, please submit a request here: resolution request form. [[link removed]]
If you are happy with he work I am doing, please consider donating to my campaign for re-election using the button below.
