One in four bumblebee species in the U.S. is currently at risk of extinction.2 Here are just a few of the wild bees in trouble:

• The American bumblebee is missing from eight states.3
• The rusty-patched bumblebee is so rare, dogs are being trained to help scientists find and protect their nests.4
• The Western bumblebee has disappeared almost entirely from its range.5
• The Southern Plains bumblebee is missing from six states.6
• The Franklin's bumblebee may already be extinct -- no one has seen one of these bees since 2006.7
