Good morning, friends!

I have to take a moment here to talk about my birthday girl.

My first baby turned 30! Every year, I joke to her that I couldn't even keep a cactus alive before she was born, and look at her, growing like crazy with plenty of water and sunshine. But now I guess I have to give the credit to her. My sweet girl reminds me of myself in a way - she cheerfully moved across the country and thrives rurally in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia now. She didn't care that a lot of folks couldn't understand her decision, and she followed her dreams nonetheless. There, she's a professional artist and entrepreneur.

We had some rough spots in our relationship when she was a teen, but I was so fortunate that we worked things out. Now, she calls me just because, she helps out when she can, and she asks for advice and recipes, too. Every single moment makes my mama's heart so happy.

Happy birthday, sweet girl. I love you! Thank you for making me a mommy! It has been the most wonderful and important job of my life.

Now that I've thoroughly embarrassed her, let's move on. (haha)

In the midst of this dastardly heat dome, guess whose air conditioner decided to misbehave? That's right, mine.

It's not absolutely miserable - it still works some, but the temperature cannot be turned up or down. We've already had the thermostat replaced two weeks ago for the same problem, so I suspect we have a wiring issue or something else.

One of the joys of renting is that we do not have to pay to fix it. One of the woes of renting is that the repair person will get here when he gets here. Hopefully, by tomorrow, the issue will be resolved, and I can return to the frigid temps in which I thrive while sleeping once again.

This morning, I'm working outside on my little patio. I've already watched the sun rise and I'm on my second cup of coffee. I like to come out here early, before it's too blazingly hot, just because it's been so long since I was able to actually relax outdoors. It feels like such a privilege and is one of the little things that makes my life so much better. If we aren't yet Facebook friends (if you're on there - I'm not asking you to get an account if you're not on there) hit me up there and follow my "happy little things" project. It truly is making a genuine difference in my state of mind. You can also find the posts on Instagram.

It's weird how the whole thing with Iran just seemed to end, and I'm not sure that I trust it. I still urge vigilance if you're going to be out in public places. I'm hopefully just a tinfoil-hat-wearing ninny, but better safe than sorry.

I hope you have a lovely day planned for this Sunday, maybe even with a cooling swim happening later on. Enjoy every single second of this summer now that it's here.

Stay safe.

Be happy.

Love,

Daisy
