Putting Students First and Meeting Energy Demands

John,

In a major win for Hoosier students and families, Governor Mike Braun
announced on Tuesday that Indiana’s public colleges and universities had agreed
to freeze in-state undergraduate tuition and fees for the 2025–2026 and
2026–2027 academic years. This marks the first time since 2010 that so many
campuses have done so, delivering on Governor Braun’s commitment to keep
college affordable and setting a national precedent.Student leaders praised the
move as a step toward greater opportunity for all Hoosiers. The freeze has been
backed unanimously by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, and includes
all 15 of the state's public colleges and universities.

On Wednesday, Governor Mike Braun announced the creation of the Strategic
Energy Growth Task Force to develop a comprehensive plan that meets Indiana’s
rapidly growing demand for reliable and affordable energy. With increased
electricity needs driven by the return of manufacturing, AI-powered data
centers, and consumer electrification, the task force will take an
"all-of-the-above" approach to energy development. Its priorities include
strengthening energy reliability, maintaining and expanding power generation,
deploying nuclear energy, and positioning Indiana as a future energy export
state.

Thanks to your efforts, our conservative leadership is delivering for
Hoosiers, and it's up to us to keep that momentum going into 2026!

As always, thank you for being a part of our team. Please feel free to reach
out if there's anything I can assist with.

Lana Keesling, Indiana GOP Chairwoman

Governor Braun Announces Tuition Freeze

Governor Mike Braun announced a two-year tuition freeze for all 15 of
Indiana’s public colleges and universities, covering the 2025–26 and 2026–27
academic years. The freeze includes both flagship and regional campuses and
follows Braun’s call for schools to cut costs without lowering quality. Tuition
at Indiana schools ranges from $2,577 at Ivy Tech to $12,144 at IU Bloomington,
all below the national average. Braun emphasized that schools should not raise
other fees to make up the difference.

“The commitment made by all of Indiana’s public colleges and universities puts
students and parents first and demonstrates to the rest of the country that
Indiana is a leader in providing a high-quality education at an affordable
price."

- Governor Braun via a recent statement.

Governor Mike Braun has established the Strategic Energy Growth Task Force to
ensure reliable and affordable energy as Indiana’s economy expands. The group
will develop 5- and 20-year plans focusing on energy reliability,
affordability, nuclear development, and making Indiana an energy export state.
It will work with utilities and stakeholders to meet rising demand and keep
electricity costs down.

“Indiana’s economy is growing and we need new solutions to meet this
accelerating energy demand reliably and affordably.”

- Governor Mike Braun via Fox 59.
