ARIZONA
The Arizona Freedom Caucus just concluded an honorable fight against the Phoenix Swamp on the state budget this week. Earlier this month, they forced the State House to pass a conservative budget with meaningful, conservative reforms in it. Despite having a Republican majority, the State Senate ignored that budget, and insisted on proceeding with the bill its leadership had negotiated in a backroom deal with Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs.
Since the two chambers were at a stalemate, GOP leadership in both the House and Senate decided to advance the bloated budget they had been crafting behind closed doors. This boondoggle budget grows spending by 8.6% and has no meaningful reforms in it. Their backroom deal was rammed through the House and Senate - in the middle of the night - despite the AZ Freedom Caucus offering several amendments to make it better.
In the end, the Swamp was successful, but the AZFC fought a hard and very public battle against it every step of the way.
What's the moral to this story? Even with a highly organized and disciplined Arizona Freedom Caucus, the Swamp can still win when RINOs and Democrats scheme together. However, that doesn't mean we don't stop fighting. If you can't win, you need to expose the Swamp to the voters. And that's what the AZ Freedom Caucus did and will continue to do. Perhaps most importantly, this budget fight highlights the need for House Freedom Caucus member, Congressman Andy Biggs, to win the governor's race in 2026.
A "Governor Biggs + Arizona Freedom Caucus" combination will go a LONG way in cleaning up Arizona and making it great again.
