Republicans would cut health care for more than 16 million people as Bezos celebrates his wedding on his $500 million superyacht.

Right now, Jeff Bezos is renting out the city of Venice for his estimated $50 million wedding.

At the same time, Republicans in Congress are debating a spending plan that would give billionaires like Bezos a massive tax break.

Here’s an uncontroversial opinion: If Jeff Bezos can rent out the city of Venice for his wedding, then he can pay more in taxes.

Despite the fact that billionaires are doing better than ever, Senate Republicans are essentially crying, “Who will think of the poor billionaires?” with this budget.

We could instead be discussing a budget bill that helps couples who are saving penny after penny to afford a nice wedding.

A budget bill that helps families who are trying to buy their first home, or simply just want to be able to afford quality child care as they grow their family.

A budget bill that helps public school teachers who pay a higher tax rate than Jeff Bezos.

But, nope. Republicans in Congress aren’t interested in supporting working families. Their spending plan cuts health care and food benefits so the government can afford to give billionaires even more tax breaks.

If you believe our government needs to pass policies that support working people — not subsidize multi-million-dollar weddings for Jeff Bezos — then please chip in $28 or anything you can right now to support our campaign. This fight isn’t over, and I’m doing everything I can in the Senate to get our government to actually work for working people.

Donald Trump ran a campaign on lowering costs for everyday working people. And yet he’s forcing through a bill that will jack up expenses on groceries and health care — all to fund massive giveaways to his billionaire backers.

If passed, this bill would result in the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in our history. That’s on top of an economy that has already been working better and better for billionaires and the ultra-rich, and worse and worse for everyone else.

The timing of Bezos’ wedding and this spending plan being debated on the same weekend is just cruel irony.

Republicans would let more kids go hungry while Bezos rents out a fragile, historic city as his own private playground.

Republicans would cut health care for more than 16 million people as Bezos celebrates his wedding on his $500 million superyacht.

Republicans would make our energy costs go up and worsen the climate crisis by cutting clean energy investments — all while the richest people in the world fly their private jets into this event.

In the short-term, I’m doing everything I can to stop this bill from passing. But there’s still more we’ve got to do, and it’s called a wealth tax.

We need people in our government who fight for working people. That’s what I’m here to do every single day. If you’re able to, please chip in $28 or anything you can to support our campaign fighting to tax billionaires like Bezos more so that our economy and our country work for everyone.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
