Dear John,
Last week, we were proud to host our third annual Community Violence Intervention Conference in Los Angeles. In the midst of major federal funding cuts, more than 900 attendees showed up to reaffirm our collective commitment to authentic, community-led solutions.
Your contributions to GIFFORDS Law Center fund impactful, lifesaving work like our annual CVI Conference. Thank you for all you do in this fight.
Community violence is one of the most prevalent drivers of our country’s gun violence epidemic, and CVI work uses messengers from the community to turn young people at risk away from violent paths—and it’s remarkably effective. Our conference brings together people from across the CVI field to connect, learn, and exchange ideas, empowering them to return to their communities with the tools they need to prevent shootings before they occur.
Our goal at the CVI Conference was to create a space devoted to advancing the violence intervention field, and that’s exactly what we did by:
- Featuring a range of workshops and panel discussions designed to provide practical strategies for reducing violence.
- Sharing resources to help sustain CVI work, including funding opportunities and best practices.
- Awarding our Lifesaving Service Award to Life-Line Colorado, an organization that works to reduce substance use, gang involvement, and recidivism across Colorado.
Please donate today to support this and our other efforts to lift up the evidence-based work that saves lives from gun violence.
$10 $25 $50 $100 $250
I’m very grateful we were able to gather, share, and focus our hearts and minds on preventing gun and community violence. This conference was only possible because of your support—one day at a time, we’re making a difference in the fight for safer communities.
In service,
Paul
