Stocks were sent plunging and traders all over the world threw up their hands in frustration as Trump unilaterally ended all trade talks with our northern neighbor with his usual tact and poise; that is to say, in the rudest and most arrogant way possible. “We have such power over Canada!" boasted Trump, who called Canada "a very difficult Country to TRADE with" and said they were "foolish" for going forward with a digital services tax, which is a levy on profits earned by tech companies from Canadian internet users. The tax targets small, struggling tech companies that, uh, make more than $820 million a year — companies like like Meta, Google, and Uber. But Trump would rather ruin our relationship with one of our closest allies and trade partners, with whom we do $762 billion in business with every year, than see his rich cronies pay a loonie more in taxes.
