Mission Accomplished: Washington, D.C. Food Distribution Launches in a Heat Wave

In the middle of a brutal heat wave, Soldiers’ Angels proudly launched our first-ever Military & Veteran Food Distribution in Washington, D.C. And thanks to our amazing community, it was a tremendous success!

We served 123 Service Members and Veterans with essential groceries, including fresh produce, shelf-stable goods, coffee, Girl Scout Cookies, and more. And we couldn’t have done it without the 45 dedicated volunteers—many of them first-timers—who braved the heat to make it all happen.

Despite the record temperatures, the energy was high, the spirit of service was strong, and the gratitude from those we served was overwhelming.

The event also featured a moving ribbon-cutting ceremony with special guests Amy Palmer, President and CEO of Soldiers' Angels; Kathy Roth-Douquet, President and CEO of Blue Star Families; Colonel Kelli R. Moon, 11th Operations Group Commander, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling; Lindsay Schneider, Director of Direct Distributions, Capital Area Food Bank; David Julazadeh, USAF Lieutenant General (Retired); Paul Shute, former Assistant Deputy Under Secretary, VA; Darin Selnick, Former Veteran Affairs Advisor at White House Domestic Policy Council; Kimberly Mitchell, Former, VSO Liasion, VA; Valencia Camp, Director of Special Events, Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception; CSM Smith, Fort Belvoir, HQ Battalion; and Martha Houle, Executive Director, Sheila and George Casey National Capital Region Chapter, Blue Star Families.

❄️ Support Operation: Warm Winter 🧤

It may be summer now, but winter will be here before we know it—and thousands of Veterans across the country will be in need.

That’s why Operation: Warm Winter starts early. Our mission is simple: collect and distribute coats, gloves, blankets, hats, and dignity to homeless and at-risk Veterans before cold weather hits.

✅ You can help by:

Starting a collection drive in your community

Making a donation to support direct purchases

Let’s ensure every Veteran we serve stays warm this winter.

🏥 A Visit That Warms the Heart

Every time our team visits the Fresno VA Hospital, we’re reminded why this mission matters.

Our incredible volunteers recently brought cozy blankets and hygiene kits to Veterans receiving care—and the impact was immediate. The halls were filled with smiles, laughter, and heartfelt thanks. According to hospital staff, our visits have a lasting effect: Veterans are noticeably happier and more engaged after we’ve been there.

To every supporter who makes these visits possible—thank you. You're a part of that joy. 💙

💌 Words That Stick With Us

“I want to sincerely thank you for all the letters and care packages I’ve received—they have truly meant a lot to me during my deployment. Your support has been a source of comfort and encouragement.”

Every letter. Every package. Every act of kindness.

It matters.

Thank you for being part of the Soldiers’ Angels family and helping us serve those who’ve served us all.
