California’s 8th District is home to not one, but two national parks -- Joshua Tree and Death Valley. And just to the west, we share borders with Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite. I don’t have to tell you how important protecting our environment is. We know that climate change is real and that if we don’t act as good stewards of our lands, national treasures like our park system will be at risk.

Try telling that to my opponent, Paul Cook, who received a 0% rating from the League of Conservation Voters and voted against the EPA’s Clean Power Plan to limit greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.

John, the stakes are too high to have a representative in Congress that doesn’t understand the implications of climate change. The effects will impact this district for years to come if we don’t act now.

If I’m elected, I’ll make protecting our natural resources and beautiful landscapes a top priority, and I’ll work to make the 8th Congressional District the renewable energy hub in California. From solar to wind to geothermal energy -- we have so much at our fingertips to both harvest clean energy and create jobs in the high desert.
