John,
The United States Postal Service and our Social Security system have a lot in common.
They are simple, universal programs that are part of the fabric of American life, connecting all of us, and guaranteeing a bare minimum of service for everyone.
And Wall Street would kill to privatize them.
Now, reports have come in that FedEx board member David Steiner, an ardent privatizer, is close to winning the nomination to be Trump’s new Postmaster General.
Tell the USPS Board of Governors: Don’t appoint privatizer David Steiner as Postmaster General!
Privatization wouldn’t just mean lost jobs―it means higher costs, reduced access, and the total elimination of mail services in areas where private companies refuse to deliver. For rural Americans, this isn’t just inconvenient, it’s catastrophic.
Privatizing the post office, would go hand in hand with the Big Bad Bill making its way through Congress right now. People in rural areas wouldn’t just lose their hospitals, they could lose their post offices too.
Instead of selling our country off to the highest bidder, we should be investing in and expanding the simple, universal, and popular programs that Americans treasure.
Tell the USPS Board of Governors: Don’t appoint privatizer David Steiner as Postmaster General!
In solidarity,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
