Shontel Brown for Congress

Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill is the most harmful legislation I’ve seen in Congress, John.

It’s not just ugly, it’s devastating. It’s a gut punch to working families and a golden parachute for the wealthy. It writes a check to the rich and sticks the rest of us with the bill.

Even a Fox News poll found that this bill is deeply unpopular. Here’s why:

First, the bill hands massive tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. If you take home multiple millions, congrats: This bill was written for you.

Second, to pay for these giveaways, it slashes healthcare and basic food support for those who need it the most, including SNAP, Medicaid, and Affordable Care Act subsidies. Last month, House Republicans voted to kick 16 million people off their health insurance by 2034 – that means over 43,000 people in Ohio’s 11th District are at risk of losing their coverage. Plus, over 35,000 people in our district could lose some or all of their SNAP benefits.

Third, despite all the talk about “fiscal responsibility,” this bill explodes the deficit, expected to add nearly $3 TRILLION to our national debt. And mark my words: In a few short years, Republicans will use the debt they created to justify deeper cuts. That’s not budgeting – that’s a heist.

That’s the whole rotten deal: every person losing health care, every family going hungry, and every dollar added to the debt – all to fill the pockets of the ultra-wealthy.

This bill is cruel. It’s cynical. And it is deliberate.

I was proud to vote “NO” in the House because this is not policy – it’s punishment. Now, it’s up to the Senate, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Will you support me as I do everything in my power to FIGHT BACK against this terrible bill by rushing $5 now?

John, I want to make one thing clear: I will not let this administration make you poorer, sicker, and more burdened with debt without standing up and speaking out. We must stop the Big Ugly Bill. Because the more you know about it, the uglier it gets.

Together,

Shontel Brown
