Abdul El-Sayed

John,

I want you to hear it from me: I’m running to be Michigan’s next U.S. senator.

If you’re ready to send a fighter to the Senate, will you split a donation of $10 between me and Blue Amp Action?

I never set out to be a politician. I wanted to be a doctor — and became one. I studied medicine and public health and became the youngest health official in a major U.S. city at 30.

But I learned something pretty quickly: while a doctor can prescribe medicine to help sick people get better, you can’t prescribe away poverty. You can’t cure what corporate greed does to us in a political system that’s rigged to put profits over people. It's no longer about left versus right — it's about the very top against the rest of us.

That’s why I’m running.

When I ran in 2018, I kept saying something that people didn’t want to believe at the time: Donald Trump, himself, wasn’t the disease. He was just the symptom of the disease.

What’s the disease? Our corrupted politics. Billionaires and mega-corporations are doing more than poisoning our air and water. They’re poisoning our democracy. They use their power to jack up prices, screwing over workers, and driving our costs through the roof. Then, they use their profits to buy access to politicians, leaving our political system too compromised to stop them.

That’s the disease that Donald Trump is a symptom of. And our campaign – you, me, our vision for change – is the antidote.

Things aren’t going to get better until we take our country back from the billionaires and corporations who are rigging our economy and our politics. And let’s be honest. Right now, the truth is, there aren’t enough leaders in the Senate who are willing to stand up and fight. But it’s not just about fighting back.

It’s about what we fight for.

Fighting for us is what I’ve done my entire career — whether it was to erase $700 million in medical debt, to test every Detroit school for lead after the Flint water crisis, or to hold corporate polluters accountable.

Together, we'll take our fight to Washington. We’ll refuse the terms set by the oligarchs, raise the minimum wage, and fight to bring down costs, protect Social Security and Medicaid for every Michigander, and champion Medicare for All to guarantee every American affordable, accessible healthcare.

This is a campaign to change our politics, not just win an election. But first, we need to come out on top in this competitive race — and I can’t do it alone.

Will you split a donation of $10, or any amount, between me and Blue Amp Action today? We’re refusing every penny from corporate PACs because this campaign belongs to you, not the billionaires.

More soon,

Abdul

About Blue Amp Action:

We cannot sugarcoat the current situation. Right-wing authoritarianism, defeated by a worldwide coalition during WWII, was only in hibernation. Over the past decade it has infected democratic societies--including ours. It is as simple as it is terrifying: What we do now will define the future of our country and world.

We at Blue Amp Action are dedicated to liberal, open societies, where reason and science are applied to solve our problems; where civil rights--including voting rights!--are protected for all. We fight for these values every day. Speaking up on our platforms, raising the voices and the political prospects of liberal pols and pundits.

And savvy grassroots activists like you know, just like we do, that we can’t stop watching the people we help elect: after the elections, we have to keep organizing support for the policies we like and pushing back against the ones we don’t.

When the public tunes out between elections and the only people our elected officials hear from are the paid lobbyists of wealthy corporations, our government stops being accountable to the needs of ordinary families.

Democracy never sleeps, and neither can we.

So we ask that you support our work, so we can continue to engage in this fight every moment of every day. So our kids grow up in democracy, not dystopia.

Thank you for your support for all we do!
