Dear Friend,
I want to update you on the devastating news the administration delivered last week, announcing they would be ending federal funding on July 17 for specialized suicide prevention services for LGBTQ+ youth — removing a critical resource and 5 years of bipartisan legacy. Giving us a mere 30 days to shut down this essential and large-scale program.
We are doing all we can to ensure LGBTQ+ young people know Trevor is still a resource for them.
-
Our crisis counselors are ready to help every LGBTQ+ young person who contacts us by phone, chat, or text.
-
Trevor's advocacy team has had more than 43,000 individuals sign our petition to let their elected officials and the administration know they do not support this decision.
-
We are alerting media outlets about the impact of losing these federal funds, which previously ensured LGBTQ+ young people would have a highly-trained crisis counselor on the other end when they reached out.
-
Nearly 3,000 community members have come forward to support Trevor since last week.
Unfortunately, we know the road ahead will not be easy, Friend.
We must be certain we have the necessary resources to help every LGBTQ+ young person who contacts Trevor. We need your support.
LGBTQ+ youth are scared. Last year, nearly 500,000 LGBTQ+ young people reached out to our crisis counselors. We anticipate that even more will need our services now and throughout the coming year.
