Breaking news from the U.S. Supreme Court, John: they’ve ordered the Louisiana redistricting case to be reheard in the next term.

Here’s what that means right now:

* Louisiana’s current map, which complies with the Voting Rights Act (VRA), remains in place. It ensures that Black voters, who make up about a third of the state’s population, can elect the candidate of their choice in two of Louisiana’s six congressional districts.
* Key protections of the VRA are still intact, but could still be at stake as this case develops.
* Our fight for fair maps and fair representation continues ahead of major elections in 2025, 2026, and beyond — with Republicans continuing to undermine democracy through extreme gerrymandering in an effort to consolidate their own power.
