Remember Emil Bove, one of Donald Trump’s former personal attorneys whom he nominated for a lifetime appointment on the U.S. Court of Appeals?
A whistle-blower at the Department of Justice just revealed that Bove “told subordinates he was willing to ignore court orders to fulfill the president’s aggressive deportation campaign,” according to The New York Times.
It’s bad enough that Bove previously worked on Trump’s criminal defense team and already built a reputation as one of his “hatchet men” in the first six months of his second term.
Now, a lawyer who served for 15 years at the DOJ — the same one who was fired after expressing concern that the Department mistakenly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia to an El Salvador megaprison — claims Bove openly talked about disregarding court orders to slow down or stop the administration’s mass deportation of immigrants to third-party countries.
Bove is already putting Trump’s interests before the rule of law. Imagine what he could do with a lifetime seat on one of the most important courts in the country!
This is exactly the kind of extreme, MAGA loyalist who belongs nowhere near the bench — and the Senate is considering his appointment as we speak.
We’re turning up the pressure and working to make sure that every Senate Democrat votes AGAINST confirming Bove, but we count on grassroots support to fuel our fight.
