Dear John,

You know how real the threat of climate change is and you know we can’t wait any longer to do something about it. Over the next few weeks, you have an opportunity to help shape the future of climate action in Wisconsin.

Gov. Tony Evers formed the Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change in October 2019 to help Wisconsin chart a path to 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2050.

Chaired by Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes and comprised of a variety of stakeholders, the task force is developing a strategy to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change for the benefit of all Wisconsin communities.

The task force is holding listening sessions to gather input from Wisconsinites on how climate change is impacting the health and well-being of their communities and economies. As a member of the Climate Change Task Force, I want to hear from you, and I know other task force members, as well as Lt. Gov. Barnes, want to hear from you too.

Wisconsin Conservation Voters is proud to have a seat on the task force, but we need conservation voters to show up and speak up about what your climate change priorities are, and what the task force can do in your community to make progress toward 100 percent carbon-free energy.

Dates for the Virtual Public Hearings for the Climate Change Task Force:

  • Tuesday, June 23 - 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 27 - 12 to 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 7 - 6 to 8 p.m.

  • Wednesday, July 15 - 6 to 8 p.m.

Listening sessions will be held over Zoom video conferencing. You can RSVP for the first session here. Or, you can just join by video the day of here, or use your phone to dial in:

We'll have information posted here about the sessions. We’re excited about the potential of this task force. Your voice is critical in making sure it serves your community’s needs and your conservation values as it begins its work.

Hope to see you (virtually!) at one of the listening sessions soon,
