Dear Friend,
Today we’ve seen two huge win for families—and I couldn’t
wait to share them with you.
In Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states can pass laws protecting kids from exposure to online pornography through age-verification requirements. This means that laws like Texas’s H.B.
1181—and similar laws in 22 other states—can now stand.
Let that sink in: The highest court in the land just affirmed
a state’s right and duty to protect kids—and the rights of parents to guard
their children’s innocence.
Even Justice Kagan, writing in dissent, made a powerful
statement:
“No one doubts that the distribution of sexually explicit
speech to children… can cause great harm.”
She’s right—and that’s exactly why Family Policy Alliance
and our allies have worked so hard to advance these laws across the country.
We’ve now helped 23 states pass age-verification laws, and this ruling is a
game-changer.
This is the beginning of the end of Big Porn’s ability to
exploit children.
We know the damage that unfiltered internet access to
pornography causes: addiction, sexual abuse, unplanned pregnancies, increased
divorce, human trafficking—the list goes on. And it starts early. The average
age of first exposure is now between 7 and 13 years old. That’s not
okay.
And the day gets better. Just
before Paxton was released, the Court also ruled in Mahmoud v. Taylor that parents have standing to
challenge school policies that violate their religious beliefs—in this
case, by preventing parents from being able to opt their children out of LGBT lessons
in elementary school. It’s a strong affirmation of a parent’s right to
direct the upbringing and education of their children—a cornerstone of our Let Parents Parent campaign and a right we will continue to defend in every state.
Parents deserve to be in the driver’s seat—not porn
companies or unaccountable school boards. And thanks to these decisions,
they now can be.
These wins belong to all of us—and especially to faithful
friends like you who have prayed, given, and stood with us in these fights. But
we’re not done yet. Our team at Family Policy Alliance is committed to seeing every
state—and the federal government—protect children and empower parents.
➡️ Will you send a gift today to help us build on these wins and expand protections across the nation? Your generosity fuels the momentum, advances
pro-family policy, and helps create a future where children are safe and truth
is honored.
