Dear neighbor,

Behind closed doors this week, Mitch McConnell told Republican Senators that constituents will “get over it” when they cut Medicaid in their Big Ugly Bill.

Get over it? Say that to the 16 million people who will lose their health coverage, the estimated 51,000 people that could die every year, and the $3.4 trillion added to the federal debt. Trump’s economic policies are harming Americans – inflation is up, GDP growth is negative for the first time in three years, and personal income dropped for the first time in almost four years. People are having difficulty making ends meet, and this bill only makes things worse. It's absolutely heartless.

I know you’ve heard from me a lot on this, but as Republicans work harder to pass this bill by the beginning of July, we need to keep fighting back. Republicans need to know that the American people won't just "get over it.” We’re in this together and we have to keep fighting.

While Republicans are focused on cutting your health care, Democrats are putting up a united front for our communities. Earlier this week, House and Senate Democrats came together for a hearing with Democratic Attorneys General who are fighting back against the lawlessness of the Trump Administration.

What we’re seeing happen at Home Depots, parks, and other public places is essentially mass racial profiling. They’re going after people based on their skin color, race, or ethnicity, and in the process, they’re detaining U.S. citizens and people who have a right to be here.

Trump's escalatory actions have not made us safer. I’m calling on the Department of Homeland Security to stop violating the law. You cannot arrest people without probable cause, detain people without reasonable suspicion, and engage in mass raids without judicial warrants. DHS must stop using excessive force and acting like masked vigilantes engaging in mass racial profiling. I will never back down from defending our community and standing up for what's right.
