FSC v. Paxton: The U.S. Supreme Court upholds Texas law protecting children from the pornography industry by requiring age verification for access to online pornography. As True North Legal explained in their amicus brief in this case, now that “the internet can now be carried around in one’s own pocket” every day, this easy access demands safeguards from the vile and graphic images that have destroyed innocent children and families. 

Mahmoud v. Taylor: In a major win for parental rights, the Court held that Maryland parents have the right to opt-their children out of LGBTQ curriculum that goes against the families’ religious beliefs. This case is very similar to True North Legal’s case last year when we represented Six-Somali American Mothers who were denied opting-out of LGBTQ lessons being taught in class to their elementary age students.

Medina v. Planned Parenthood: In a victory for the pro-life movement, the U.S. Supreme Court holds that South Carolina cannot be forced to fund the abortion industry, specifically Planned Parenthood.

United States of America v. Skrmetti: A common sense ruling in which the U.S. Supreme Court upholds Tennessee’s law protecting vulnerable children from the irreversible damage of experimental medicine, specifically from experimental drugs and transition efforts, for so-called “gender affirming care

The United States Senate is considering the nation’s budget reconciliation bill, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and will likely be voting on this budget soon. One provision in that bill is the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA,) school choice legislation which Minnesota Family Council supports.

The ECCA would create scholarships for students through private charitable donations, which would receive a 100% non-refundable federal income tax credit. For students, the funds could be used to pay for tuition, tutoring, special needs services, homeschooling curriculum materials, and education technology, among other eligible uses.

This legislation would directly empower parents to choose the school or education service that works best for their child, including homeschool. It is estimated that this legislation could create opportunity for over one million American students.

Passing nationwide school choice is essential to ensuring that students of all backgrounds and learning levels have access to the learning tools and support that they need to get the most out of their education and prepare for their future.

We urge members of Congress to create nationwide school choice with the passage of the ECCA!

🚨Tell Members of Congress to Defund Planned Parenthood!

The United States Senate is considering legislation which would cut the nearly $800 million in federal taxpayer funding of the nation’s leading abortion mill – Planned Parenthood. In its 2023-2024 Annual Report, the nonprofit reported that it had received $792 million in U.S. federal taxpayer funds for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.

Federal funding should only be directed toward the common good. Instead, our government uses the taxes we pay to fund the world’s leading abortion mill which reported that it provided 402,230 abortions in the reported year.

Originally called the American Birth Control League, Planned Parenthood was founded upon racism, sterilization, and eugenics. Although the organization’s branding has changed since 1921, the original mission of the organization continues as it profits from the chemical killing of the unborn, the starvation and dismemberment of the unborn, and prescription of experimental puberty blockers and hormones with or without parental consent.

Minnesota Family Council extends our gratitude to the members of the United States House of Representatives who passed the Big Beautiful Bill with provisions to defund Planned Parenthood, and now we urge our United States Senators to also vote for legislation to defund Planned Parenthood.

The United States government should fund the common good, not the death of the most vulnerable and the potential sterilization of children who do not have the capacity for informed consent. We urge members of Congress to protect the life of the most vulnerable and protect American taxpayers from forced funding of abortion and forced funding so-called “gender-affirming care.” By providing for the death of children and the sterilization of other children, Planned Parenthood opposes the public good.
