Dear John,
In early June, our crew documented one of the largest Grindadrap hunts in recent memory—291 pilot whales killed in the village of Leynar, including pregnant females and juveniles. But what they captured didn’t end at the shoreline.
On July 1st, Sea Shepherd will release a powerful new video documenting the hunt, the aftermath, and the evidence that challenges everything the Faroese government claims about this practice.
The Grindadrap is still legal under Faroese law and falls outside the protections of the International Whaling Commission. Officials say the meat is shared and nothing is wasted—but our footage tells a different story. Meat and organs, suitable for human consumption, were discarded and dumped into the sea.
