Dear John,
The state of California is trying to erase history — and the Center for American Liberty is fighting back.
Serranus Hastings was a pioneer, a judge, and the founder of the law school that bore his name for more than 140 years. Now, in a radical, ideologically driven move, California officials are trying to permanently strip his name from the school he funded — all to appease a woke agenda.
This isn’t just historical revisionism — it’s lawless. And it’s personal.
That’s why on behalf of the Hastings College Conservation Committee we filed suit to stop the state from illegally breaking its contract and cancelling Hastings' legacy.
Right now, we’re preparing for a hearing at the Court of Appeals to determine whether our case can move forward — or whether we’ll need to take the fight to an even higher court.
Meanwhile, I suspect the University of California has spent more than $1 million in legal fees to keep us from winning our case.
Let that sink in: A public institution is using taxpayer dollars to cancel a man who gave his fortune to start a school.
By contrast, we’re doing this the right way — without government funding, without woke ideology, and with respect to the great American men and women who came before us.
And right now, we need your help to raise $30,000 to fund the next phase of this case.
A few of our plaintiffs have already stepped up and put forward $15,000 in matching funds to double the impact of your donation.
Will you stand with us today to defend the truth — and push back against the state’s illegal attempt to cancel history?
With oral arguments expected soon, this is a critical moment. If the Court of Appeals allows our case to move forward, we need to be ready to act fast.
Thank you for supporting the fight for truth, history, and the rule of law.
