Managing Glacier National Park is a balancing act: ensuring
visitors have incredible experiences while protecting the
invaluable natural and cultural resources.
So, how do they do it? Through the Visitor Use Management (VUM)
program
( [link removed] )
, dedicated data scientists are on the ground, collecting
crucial insights into how people interact with the park.
This team helps park management make informed decisions that
safeguard Glacier's wilderness and offer a fulfilling experience
for all who visit.

Glacier Book Club:
Glacier's Reds with
author Ray Djuff
The 1930s-era red buses that ply the roads of Glacier National
Park in Montana were possibly its most โendangered species.โ The
33 White Motor Company Model 706 buses make one of the oldest
fleets anywhere in the world still in continuous service. But
their future has not always been guaranteed. Repeatedly over the
decades, the red buses have been in danger of being pulled off
the road. In Glacierโs Reds, Ray Djuff delves into their history
offering insight into their origin, operation, and how the red
buses were resurrected when faced with the threat of being tossed
into the dustbin of history.
