News from Representative Pete Aguilar

Dear John,

Right now, Republicans in Congress are trying to push through a bill that cuts Medicaid by almost $800 billion. Nonpartisan reports say that this bill will kick 16 million Americans off their health insurance, causing hospitals and nursing homes across the country to close, health care to become more expensive and people to get sicker.

I hosted a press conference outside the emergency department at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino to highlight the devastating consequences that Republican Medicaid cuts would have on local hospitals in our community. If Donald Trump’s and Republicans' One Big Ugly Bill is signed into law, thousands of Inland Empire residents will lose their health insurance, forcing people to seek out routine medical care at local emergency rooms like St. B’s.

We should be working to make health care stronger and more affordable so that working families can get the care they need. Instead, Republicans in Congress are cutting funding for emergency rooms to pay for tax breaks for billionaires and wealthy corporations.

Rest assured, I’ll continue to fight for Inland Empire families and push back against this dangerous and reckless proposal that targets health care here in our community.

Thanks,
