John, Even among the other heartless people who fueled the opioid epidemic, the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma stand out for their greed and callous disregard for human life. My blood boils when I think about how they lined their pockets by aggressively pushing opioids and deliberately downplaying their addictiveness. No amount of money can undo the suffering they’ve caused, but it’s still important to hold these bad actors accountable. That’s why I joined 55 other attorneys general this week in signing onto a $7.4 billion settlement that ends the Sacklers’ control of Purdue Pharma and bans them from selling opioids in the United States. Minnesota will receive about $59 million from this settlement—the largest ever reached with the individuals behind the opioid crisis. These funds will be used for treatment, prevention, and harm reduction strategies and programs across the state. As the People’s Lawyer, I will always stand up to powerful special interests that prioritize profits, not people. But victories like this aren’t possible without your support. Our campaign’s end-of-quarter fundraising deadline is just days away, but we’re still $17,375 short of our goal. We need your help to make up the difference. John, will you give $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can to support our campaign? If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Thank you for standing with me, Keith Ellison
