Deep within the fabric of our nation are the long-held values of honoring Americans who have served, supporting the many military families across the nation, and providing for a strong national security posture that deters all manner of threats to the homeland. These are values that have withstood the test of time – they remain immensely strong. This week, the House passed H.R. 3944, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2026, legislation that makes significant investments and secures continued ironclad support for veterans, servicemembers, and military families. Let’s discuss some important components of this legislation.

In addition to being aligned with President Trump’s budget request and the America First agenda, this legislation:

  • Fully funds veterans’ health care programs.
  • Fully funds veterans’ benefits and VA programs.
  • Maintains funding levels for research, mental health programs, and other programs relied upon by veterans.
  • Protects the 2nd Amendment rights of veterans.
  • Makes critical investments in border security and military infrastructure that will increase readiness and protection of our nation.

To learn more about H.R. 3944, I highly encourage you to visit the House Appropriations Committee website to see the important provisions that Republicans included in this legislation. I was very proud to shepherd this bill through the Rules Committee and to have voted in favor of it when it came to the House floor for a full vote – we owe our nation’s veterans, servicemembers, and their families a profound debt of gratitude. Making sure we do everything in our power to honor and support our veterans will always be one of my top priorities in Congress.

An Interesting Read

You may have seen or heard in the past few months about the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) revenue and cost estimates related to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. These estimates are inaccurate – and as Speaker Johnson has stated recently, CBO is notorious for getting things wrong. Stephen Moore, a renowned economist, recently covered this issue in an op-ed with the North State Journal where he lays out the case as to why CBO’s shoddy estimations can lead to bad policy outcomes that will affect the American people.
