I wanted to take a moment and update you about how the Reconciliation Bill will impact Mississippi's Third Congressional District and work to secure our border.
As the Chairman of the Subcommittee for Border Security and Enforcement, my number one goal has been to work alongside President Trump to secure our border. The Reconciliation Bill includes resources to secure our border and codify executive orders that will ensure a secure border for decades to come.
The Reconciliation Bill will:
The Biden administration's border policy crisis has finally come to an end, though we will be working to undo the consequences for years. Illegal crossings at the Southwest border in March plummeted 95 percent from the previous March. However, the success at our borders won’t last if we don’t provide the necessary resources to help Customs and Border Protection (CBP) fulfill its mission.
Physical barriers play a critical role in ensuring that our borders are secure. Completed sections of the border wall have been a proven, effective tool for Border Patrol agents to prevent illegal crossings. That’s why the proposal advanced by Republicans allocated $46.5 billion to fund over 700 new miles of border wall and invest in the continued modernization of the border barrier system.
