Friend,
It might not seem like it, but here at Common Dreams, we really try not to send too many emails asking for money.
So we wanted to explain to you why our fundraising requests are what they are.
We don't take a dime of corporate advertising or government money. We don't have a paywall. To fund this kind of journalism — fearless, independent, and available to all regardless of ability to pay — we rely exclusively on donations from readers who believe in our mission: To inform. To inspire. To ignite change for the common good.
But what if there were a way to support Common Dreams without receiving all these fundraising emails?
Guess what. There is. All you have to do is become a monthly donor to Common Dreams — at any level!
Click here to support the hard-hitting progressive journalism of Common Dreams as a monthly donor — and automatically turn off the spigot of fundraising emails. ([link removed])
You can give any amount from $5 to $12 or $50 and cancel or adjust your level of support at any time. We want your support, but we insist it be something you can manage.
The truth is, we're quite proud of how successful our grassroots fundraising program has been over the years, including these regular email fundraising drives.
It's what allows us to never pull punches or spike stories that might cause problems for our corporate overlords. Because we don't have any corporate overlords — we just have you, our readers.
Independent journalism has never faced a more challenging time. Donald Trump is doing everything in his power to destroy the free press, and we have to assume it's only a matter of time before he comes after us.
Maybe he'll try to strip our tax-exempt nonprofit status, like he has with groups who have spoken out for Palestinian rights, called him out for corruption, or challenged his agenda. The administration could try to shut down our donation processors, as they have done with ActBlue. Or maybe our reporters will start getting pulled aside by DHS at the airport — we've seen it all before.
That's why we've set an ambitious, but critically important, goal of doubling our monthly donors by July 1.
These are the individuals who provide us with a solid financial foundation, enabling us to publish the truth fearlessly every day, knowing we have a reliable source of income that we can count on each month, regardless of the circumstances. Divided, we are weak, but together we are strong.
So if you're with us — if you want to join those who believe in this work and fight every day for the common good — please sign up with whatever monthly amount you can afford. You count on us. We're counting on you now. ([link removed])

P.S. If you want to support Common Dreams but aren’t ready to make a monthly donation, you can also make a one-time donation here. ([link removed])
