This has been a Pride Month like no other.
As we prepare for Twin Cities Pride this weekend—a joyful celebration of love, identity, and community—we are also mourning the loss of a true champion of democracy, Speaker Melissa Hortman.
Speaker Hortman and her husband Mark will lie in state at the Capitol today (noon-5), and her funeral will take place tomorrow and will be live streamed here [[link removed]] . Her life was defined by service, courage, and an unwavering belief in a more just and inclusive Minnesota. We carry her spirit with us into everything we do, including this weekend’s celebration.
Even in the midst of grief, the work continues. This Pride Month has been especially difficult for LGBTQ+ Americans, as threats to rights and representation persist. But through Ranked Choice Voting, we can build a stronger, more inclusive democracy that lifts up all voices—including LGBTQ+ Minnesotans.

We’ll be in the Orange Zone (booth 528, table 9) on the north side of the park near the tennis courts, and we’ll also be marching in Sunday’s parade. Stop by to say hello, grab some RCV gear, and learn how we're empowering voters and building a better future—together.
