Dear Green American,
We have written to you before about Kroger’s impact on communities and environment because of the company’s climate emissions.
The good news is that they’ve listened and taken first steps. And now with new leadership they have an opportunity for more progress!
Take action now: Tell Kroger’s new leaders – we need greater action on climate pollutants! ([link removed])
The refrigerators in Kroger’s stores use potent super-pollutant gases, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), that are leaking and accelerating the climate crisis.
Eliminating HFCs and adopting climate-friendly refrigerants is a major step to address the climate crisis.
Thanks to pressure from consumers like you, Kroger has committed to natural refrigerants in all its new stores which is a significant step.
But grocery chains across the country are also considering a false solution to HFCs called HFOs – a new chemical refrigerant that breaks down into PFAS. PFAS chemicals cause all kinds of ailments in communities and are already prevalent in our environment – we don’t need another source of this “forever chemical.”
Let’s make sure Kroger only switches to only natural refrigerants in its over 2,700 stores nationwide.
The company has taken some positive steps and now Kroger has new leadership at the top and the opportunity to move forward on climate!
Join us in sending a message to the company that the time to act is now.

Thanks for all you do,
