Hey John, it’s New York Governor Kathy Hochul. I’m here to call bullshit on the Trump administration and D.C. Republicans playing political games with New York and our country.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Donald Trump is not a king, New York hasn’t lived under a king for 250 years, and New Yorkers are not going to bow down to his every whim.

If you’ve seen the news recently, you know that I won’t back down from this fight. Trump’s federal overreach cannot go unchecked.

We must meet this moment and protect our rights and values – which is what I and Democratic governors across the country are doing. But this fight isn’t one we can take on alone. That’s why I am reaching out personally to ask you to chip in $3, or more, before midnight to help the DGA elect Democratic governors like myself, who won’t back down from the fight to protect your fundamental rights and freedoms.

Frankly, John, I’m sick and tired of the Trump administration trying to rule our states.

They’re gutting Medicaid and taking a sledgehammer to our health care system. They’re threatening women’s health care. They’re driving up costs for working families.

If that isn’t enough, earlier this month, they and their Republican allies tried to stoke fear at a House Oversight Committee hearing – targeting me, Gov. Walz, and Gov. Pritzker – while Republican members grandstanded and parroted Trump’s threats. They even handcuffed a United States Senator for asking a question at a public press conference. And just last week, they detained a New York City elected official.

What the hell is happening to this country?

I will not let this slide. Our democracy only survives if we defend it – and we’re not going to let it go down the drain.

Democratic governors are taking action: safeguarding reproductive access, lowering prescription drug prices, expanding Medicaid, fully funding public schools, and doing everything we can to defend progress and freedoms – but we can’t do it alone. So please, John, will you chip in $3 – or more – before midnight to elect Democratic governors who will defend against GOP attacks?
