Operation Midnight Hammer

Iran was on the verge of obtaining a nuclear weapon, and President Trump put an end to their acquisition of nuclear weapons. The president’s targeted strikes are consistent with actions taken by past presidents of both parties. But we must stay vigilant.

The U.S. targeted three major Iranian nuclear sites:

* Fordow – An underground facility known as the centerpiece of Iran’s nuclear program. The U.S. used 30,000-pound “bunker-buster” bombs dropped by B-2 bombers.

* Natanz – Iran’s largest uranium enrichment site.

* Isfahan – A site containing Iran’s largest stockpile of nuclear fuel. It was struck by U.S. submarine-launched cruise missiles.

Securing our Homeland

I am pleased that my bill, the Combatting International Drug Trafficking and Human Smuggling Partnership Act of 2025, has been passed by the Committee on Homeland Security

Custom and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations, or AMO for short, plays a critical role in safeguarding the United States. It conducts extended border operations to detect and disrupt the illegal flow of people, drugs, and other contraband well before it hits our shore.

In the last fiscal year alone, CBP’s Air and Marine Operations enforcement actions resulted in more than 1,000 arrests and the apprehension of over 48,000 illegal aliens. They additionally seized or disrupted more than 240,000 pounds of cocaine and nearly 1,500 weapons.

AMO partners with foreign governments in the Western Hemisphere to combat trafficking and conduct humanitarian and law enforcement capacity-building missions.

As transnational criminal organizations extend their reach, the United States must be ready to meet this challenge with partner countries to interdict illicit persons and goods prior to their arrival in the United States. This legislation authorizes AMO to partner with other nations and will allow AMO and other designated CBP personnel to continue these successful bilateral agreements with partner nations to provide training, increase capacity, and conduct joint operations to facilitate the apprehension of human traffickers and drug smugglers.

Air and Marine Operations partnerships enhance operational capabilities and coordination efforts, making the region more secure and the American people safer. Watch my remarks on this bill below:
