Our SEEC members just returned from a climate change tour of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where they saw firsthand how extreme weather, pollution, and habitat loss are threatening our nation’s most iconic landscapes.
From left to right: SEEC Members Rep. Maxine Dexter (OR-03), Jared Huffman (CA-02), Vice Chair Sean Casten (IL-06), and Co-Chair Mike Quigley (IL-05).
While our members met with local leaders and small business owners to discuss how we preserve these public lands, their Senate colleagues were advancing legislation to sell them off instead.
John, there are two futures for America’s public lands.
Here at SEEC PAC, we’re working to build the one in which our leaders are laser-focused on the urgent climate issues of our time. Our SEEC members know that the protection of our public lands is non-negotiable, as it supports the health and prosperity of communities across our country in addition to keeping our air and water clean.
At the same time, the Senate is continuing to advance their reconciliation package that proposes selling off public lands to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. The provision threatens natural resources and wildlife habitats – and it also sets a dangerous precedent for treating public lands as disposable.
Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
