Friend, we wanted to show you one of the common responses we’ve seen over the past few years while supporting Eric’s re-election in our hypercompetitive district:

On one hand, yes, we live in Illinois, a state with strong Democratic leadership on both the state and federal level.

On the other hand, Northwestern and Central Illinois are very… purple.

In fact, when we look at IL-17, Eric likes to joke that it’s really Eastern, Eastern Iowa as much as it’s Western Illinois. We have a strong, proud way of life that looks different than other parts of the state, bipartisan at best, but really it’s nonpartisan.

The reality is that Eric has the most competitive congressional race in the state. His was the only seat last cycle on both the national Democratic and Republican targeted lists. In fact, it was the ONLY seat in Illinois that Cook Political does not call “safe”:

This is a real, bonafide battleground seat right here in Illinois – the bellwether of 2026, one that will determine House control next year, and one we’re proud to fight for every day.

So friend, believe us when we tell you how critical your support is to making IL-17 blue. And if you can, your donation ahead of our FEC deadline will go a long way in helping us maintain the grassroots team we need to keep it that way.

We couldn’t have won this seat or been in a position to defend it without the wonderful supporters whose passion, dedication, and excellent ideas have been inspiring a great source of comfort over the many difficult days and long nights.

Thanks in advance for your support,

Team Sorensen HQ
