Dear John,
We previously warned you: Governor Lamont was poised to hand over control of your town’s future to Hartford bureaucrats.
Today, we have good news: HB 5002 is dead.
Thanks to relentless pressure from local leaders, grassroots conservatives, and the CT GOP, Lamont vetoed the Democrats’ radical housing bill that would have stripped zoning power from your community and forced one-size-fits-all mandates on every town in Connecticut.
This is a major win for local control, property rights, and the principle that families—not unelected bureaucrats—should shape the future of their neighborhoods.
But the fight isn’t over.
Democrats have already signaled they’ll try again in a special session. They’re determined to override your voice and push their agenda through the back door.
Democratic Senate President Martin Looney said it doesn’t matter how loud or angry Connecticut residents get about this; Democrats are steadfast in their desire to override local control and build more housing.
Clearly, the Democrats don’t respect you and your opinions. They don’t care what the people of Connecticut want; they only care about their far-left progressive agenda, which is designed to destroy the very thing that has made Connecticut the wonderful state it is today.
We need to be ready. CT Republicans are the last line of defense—and we need your help to keep fighting.
