** U.S. Supreme Court Delivers Another Landmark Pro-Life Win during Life Month!
------------------------------------------------------------

BACKGROUND:

In 2018, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster signed an executive order that prohibited state Medicaid funding from going to abortion providers through its reimbursement program. At that time, Governor McMaster rightly conveyed the message that even indirect taxpayer support for abortion subsidizes the destruction of innocent human life.

Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, which operates 2 clinics in South Carolina, was removed from the state Medicaid reimbursement program. It was no surprise when Planned Parenthood, along with one of their clients who is a Medicaid recipient, sued the state claiming that the executive order violates Medicaid's "any qualified provider" provision because almost 40% of Planned Parenthood’s “revenue” comes from Title X “family planning” grants (our tax dollars!)

The case made its way to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS.)

TODAY:

In a 6-3 decision, SCOTUS ruled ([link removed]) that Planned Parenthood may not sue South Carolina because the relevant federal statute that Planned Parenthood based their suit does not authorize such law suits. There is no “right” within the Medicaid qualified provider provision for individuals to pick and choose any provider they want.

Today’s SCOTUS decision thwarts Planned Parenthood’s monetary shell game and their deceptive financial practices they play with our tax dollars.

According to a NEW REPORT ([link removed]) [link removed] by Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14), chairwoman of the House DOGE Subcommittee which launched a long-needed investigation into Planned Parenthood’s misuse of Federal Funds:

“Despite receiving 39 percent of its annual revenue from federal funds intended for essential health services, such as cancer screenings and wellness exams, Planned Parenthood is increasingly using its resources to offer abortions to its patients. In FY 2023, Planned Parenthood provided fewer health care services and performed more abortions than years prior. The latest Planned Parenthood annual report shows that it performed more than 400,000 abortions, an increase of 23 percent over the last 10 years. Compared to a decade ago, Planned Parenthood provided 63 percent fewer prenatal services and 38 percent fewer contraceptive services.”

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court has ended years of forced taxpayer funding of the abortion industry in South Carolina. These funds can and should be re-directed to life-affirming providers. Remember:
* 60% of voters SUPPORT defunding Planned Parenthood.
* 70% of voters SUPPORT using public funding for local pregnancy resource centers

Now, Georgia can do the same thing and that is exactly what Georgia Life Alliance Committee will work to achieve!
