A Note From the Desk of Congresswoman Letlow
Our nation’s capital has been a whirlwind of activity lately with government funding discussions, work to pass President Trump’s agenda, and the current conflict in the Middle East.
President Trump’s decisive strikes against Iran’s nuclear sites was a key step toward halting Iran’s nuclear progress and keeping America safe. While military action should never be taken lightly, the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism cannot be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon. As President Trump continues working to create peace, I pray for the continued protection of our men and women in uniform.
Following House passage of President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, the Senate is working on incorporating some of their ideas into the legislation. As we wait on the Senate to act, I published an article in The Advocate where I expand on the need for the pro-family tax policies that secured my support for the legislation.
On a different note, I spoke on the floor of the U.S. House to honor our LSU Baseball team on bringing home their eighth College World Series title. Geaux Tigers!
Please feel free to always reach out to my office directly when you have questions, comments, or concerns. My office is always accessible through our website by clicking here. We are here to serve you!

Julia Letlow, Ph.D.
Member of Congress
My Work on the Appropriations Committee
As the only member of Congress from Louisiana serving on the House Appropriations Committee, I give my district a strong seat at the table in Washington. While I believe too many of your tax dollars come to Washington, I am in a role that allows me to determine how we can bring those dollars home to Louisiana. Our committee is currently meeting on a nearly daily basis to decide how to allocate funding in next year’s federal budget. We are focused on fulfilling President Trump’s mandate of protecting taxpayers while advancing conservative priorities. As always, your feedback is welcome as we make funding decisions in the days and weeks ahead.
Fighting for Working Families and Seniors
Congress’ work is continuing on enacting the Trump agenda for tax relief, border security, and making the federal government more efficient and accountable. The House has already passed the One Big Beautiful Bill, which continues the Trump Tax Cuts from 2017 and adds new tax cuts for working families, small businesses, and our seniors. We are currently waiting on the Senate to add their ideas to the legislation, so we can get it to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law. Read more in The Advocate about how I’m working to ensure we have a pro-family tax code that helps the middle class.
Protecting Women's Sports
As a former collegiate track athlete and the mom of two small children, it’s disappointing to see states like California continue to trample on women’s sports by allowing men to steal athletic achievements from our women and girls. Our country has made significant progress in expanding opportunities for women, and allowing biological men to compete with women in sports rolls back the clock on long-won rights. I will continue to support the Trump Administration’s drive to protect women’s sports and hold states like California accountable for threatening the integrity of athletic competition.
Visiting with Constituents
I love sitting down and listening to Louisianans about issues impacting them. Recent weeks have allowed me to visit with constituents both at home in Louisiana as well as in Washington. I especially enjoyed speaking at Southeastern University to the annual convention of Louisiana Girls State about how women can shape the future by becoming leaders in their schools, workplaces, and more.
