What we’re witnessing in my district and across Los Angeles is horrifying.

Federal agents are snatching people off the street — arresting them at work, at church, and even at their immigration hearings. They’re trampling on civil rights and denying people due process.

When Senator Alex Padilla spoke out, he was violently removed and handcuffed by the Trump administration — a shocking display of authoritarian tactics aimed at intimidating our communities.

These authoritarian tactics are a clear attempt to intimidate California. But we won’t be silent.

This administration isn’t making our communities safer. Instead, they’re wasting $134 million deploying more federal troops in our cities than we have in Iraq and Syria — stirring fear and chaos, not peace.

We must raise our voices and say clearly: We stand with immigrant families. We reject these violent raids and attacks on our neighbors.
