It’s World Refugee Day. Today we honor the millions of vulnerable people around the world in search of a better life—a life of dignity, peace, and opportunity.
This week, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees announced that the global total of refugees hit the highest number since the statistics have been collected - nearly 80 million people worldwide are now displaced by war, persecution, violence, and other emergencies.
I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a year like no other. This year’s World Refugee Day also takes place against a backdrop of both a global pandemic and protests worldwide against racial injustice. Both issues deeply affect the people we work with at USCRI.
