With just four days until our June fundraising deadline, I’ve been reflecting on why we do this work at Emerge. It’s more urgent than ever that we get Democratic women in office at all levels of government.

Every day on the news we see how we are living in a politically volatile moment. Rights are being stripped away. Lawmakers are escalating their attacks on reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, and our very democracy.

And even elected officials are being targeted for standing up for what’s right, including Emerge alum U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver, who was just arraigned after a confrontation with federal law enforcement during an oversight visit to an ICE detention center in Newark.

But here’s the truth: We can’t afford to just react to every new crisis. We need to build. That’s what Emerge does. We recruit and train women to lead with courage, clarity, and community at every level of government.
