Friend,
Donald Trump has revived his immigration ban, outright banning travel from 12 countries, restricting travel from 7 more, and issuing warnings to 36 other countries that they could be next.(1)
We are a nation of Indigenous and immigrants, and California is home to the largest immigrant population of any state. We know that banning people from specific countries, based on their religion, doesn’t make us any safer. That’s why we’re going all in on supporting the NO BAN Act, introduced by Rep. Judy Chu and Sen. Christopher Coons earlier this year.
Can you sign this petition calling on your members of Congress to pass the NO BAN Act?
Banning travel from Muslim-majority countries is a reprise of Trump’s disastrous first-term. Aside from being inhumane and immoral, this ban is also antithetical to the globalized nature of the world we live in. Experts are already pointing out how such bans could impede the flow of knowledge and research, stymying research and innovation advances.(2)
The NO BAN Act aims to stop the xenophobic overreach of this administration. If passed, it will prevent future travel bans by prohibiting discrimination based on religion, limiting executive authority on immigration policy, and requiring congressional consultation on future attempts to restrict people’s travel.
The best time to pass this legislation was earlier this year, before the administration’s latest ban threw thousands of lives into chaos. But, the next best time is now.
Can you join the call for our members of Congress to act immediately and pass the NO BAN Act?
Thank you for being in the fight!
