Team – It’s official. The field is set in Virginia for this November, including who will be on the ticket for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General.
Here’s the deal: The entire GOP ticket is anti-abortion.
While this isn’t surprising, it is alarming, especially as Republicans in Washington are working to defund Planned Parenthood, slash Medicaid, and make it so our communities are not able to access basic reproductive care, not to mention abortion.
We cannot leave our rights in the hands of politicians who think it’s their job to dictate what we can or cannot do with our bodies. Help us protect abortion in Virginia and elect pro-choice candidates up and down the ballot by chipping in $15 now.
❌ The Republican nominee for Governor of Virginia, Winsome Earl-Sears, said she supports a six-week abortion ban like the one that recently took effect in Texas.
❌ One of the first acts for Attorney General Jason Miyares was to urge the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and withdraw Virginia from a legal brief with 23 other Attorneys General defending a woman’s access to abortion.
❌ The Lieutenant Governor nominee, John Reid, has been on a rampage of goal-setting. He’s pledged that he will vote
“no, no, no” if Democrats attempt to enshrine reproductive rights, voting rights, and LGBTQ+ marriage rights into the Constitution.
He is also working to spread misinformation, stating that our Reproductive Rights Amendment would allow for “day-of-birth” abortions, which is literally not a thing that exists. This is precisely why uninformed extremists should stay far away from the doctor-patient relationship.
I don’t know about you, but we are sick and tired of politicians trying to dictate what we can and cannot do with our bodies. We have had ENOUGH.
