Tina for Oregon

Last week, I traveled to Central Oregon to convene a roundtable of rural doctors, clinic administrators, family caregivers, and food security experts – all concerned about the impact of proposed cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. Every person had a similar message: "Cuts to Medicaid and SNAP will hurt people.”

The cuts to Medicaid would be particularly devastating for rural communities. I’m calling on Congressional Republicans to step up and protect the health care that 1.3 million Oregonians rely on. Will you add your name and stand up against these cuts?

Rural communities, on average, rely more on Medicaid coverage than their urban counterparts because of things like more modest incomes, larger percentages of older adults, and fewer private insurance options.

When I left the roundtable, I wished that every single member of Congress considering supporting the bill to cut Medicaid and SNAP funding could have sat across from the folks I heard from. They are the people politicians were elected to answer to, not the ultra-wealthy who are getting tax breaks at the expense of the wellbeing of children and families.

I’m going to keep fighting, every day, for the 1 in 3 Oregonians who rely on Medicaid and SNAP.

So please, add your name to the fight - right now.
