Legislative Update
Dear friends and neighbors,
I am sure by now you are all aware of the tragic, targeted attacks upon state lawmakers the weekend of June 14th. The attacks were horrific, stirring fear among lawmakers across the political divide. We continue to mourn the loss of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and pray for recovery for Senator Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Thanks to the diligent work of law enforcement officers over the weekend, the damage was not greater and the suspect was caught without incident.
Political violence is absolutely unacceptable. It is not just an attack on individuals, but a direct assault on the democratic system we all rely on. Political disagreements should be resolved through strong debate and civil discourse, never through violence.
Back in District
In the wake of this tragic event, and as the days go on, I have tried to be present in my community and engage with constituents through various events.
About a week and a half ago, I was able to attend the Faribault Heritage Days Mayors Reception. It was a great community event and celebration, where I was able to get some good updates from mayor Tom Spooner about the city and happenings.

At the end of last week, I attended the Minnesota Soybean Reception, hosted by FarmAmerica in Waseca. They had a great program and some demonstrations, which were both entertaining and informative. Thank you to FarmAmerica for the opportunity to attend!

Later that evening, I went to the Goodhue County Soybean Growers Annual Meeting. It is always encouraging and insightful to get together with others in the agriculture world, and they always host a great event!

Holidays
Since I last sent an update, we have celebrated a few holidays.
First, I want to wish all the dads a Happy Father's Day. Being a dad has been one of the greatest joys of my life, and it was so fun to have a day to spend with my wife and kids in celebration.
Last Thursday was Juneteenth, the 160th anniversary of the end of slavery. Whether you had the day off or not, I hope you were able to reflect on the meaning of the day and appreciate how far we have come as a country.
