Right now, lawmakers are rushing forward with a budget proposal that would open millions of acres of public land to development. Iconic landscapes would also be sold or leased to the highest bidder.
But this budget bill doesn't just threaten our public lands. On top of selling large swaths of public land outright, it removes public oversight, weakens environmental protections, and hands more power to corporate polluters.
We cannot let this legislation move forward.
The Sierra Club is organizing a full-scale response. We are rallying grassroots supporters, contacting lawmakers, and shining a spotlight on what is at stake if Congress allows public lands to be destroyed. But time is running out for public lands – and for our match!
