When a concerned neighbor called for a welfare check on a few dogs, no one expected the nightmare that awaited. Volunteers from the local shelter arrived thinking they’d find around 15 pets, but what they discovered was far worse.

Inside the home, the floors were blanketed with feces, crawling with bugs and vermin. Dogs had taken refuge in the insulation and dug holes in the ground to give birth to their pups. The situation was chaotic and heartbreaking.
Without any veterinary care, the population had spiraled out of control. Many of the dogs are now suffering from heartworm, infected bite wounds, parasites, and untreated infections.
Greater Good Charities is partnering with a local rescue group to provide these animals with the care they desperately need. Each dog requires thorough medical exams and extensive treatment to have a chance at a healthy life.
