Wisconsin Supreme Court Upholds Congressional Maps: WILL Reacts

The Wisconsin Supreme Court today declined to hear challenges seeking to redraw the state’s current congressional district maps, effectively ensuring the maps will remain in place for the 2026 midterm elections. The decision marks the latest effort by partisans to throw out Wisconsin’s electoral maps.

WILL Deputy Counsel, Lucas Vebber, stated, “Thankfully, an overtly political effort to overturn these maps has been rejected. Today’s decision by the Wisconsin Supreme Court reinforces the legitimacy of our state’s congressional maps and pushes back against radical, out-of-state leftists trying to meddle in Wisconsin. This repeated rejection by the Court, including just last year, speaks volumes about the lack of merit in these challenges.”

WILL Goes To Washington: Sounds Alarm on the Dangers of DEI

Today, WILL Deputy Counsel, Dan Lennington, testified before the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, exposing how DEI policies routinely violate federal civil rights laws.

He highlighted WILL's work representing over 80 clients from 25 states who have suffered real-world harm, including individuals denied job opportunities, financial relief, or essential services based on their race.

WILL has actively combated these discriminatory policies, filing multiple lawsuits, including six against the Biden Administration and dozens of other legal actions nationwide. Cases will has taken include a Wisconsin mother whose son was denied dyslexia support because he wasn't a racial minority, a Tennessee restaurant owner placed at the back of the line for relief funds due to his race, and a disabled Wisconsin dairy farmer denied loan forgiveness simply for being white.

WILL Fights Back Against Secret School Gender Transitions

WILL, in partnership with the Liberty Justice Center (LJC), has filed an amicus brief with the U.S Court of Appeals, urging it to overturn the district court decision in Vitsaxaki v. Skaneateles Central School District. The trial court held that schools can facilitate children changing their gender identity at school without parental knowledge or consent.

In 2021, New York mother Jennifer Vitsaxaki discovered that for months, Skaneateles school employees were referring to her daughter by a male name and pronouns. This was done under an official school district policy with staff actively hiding this information from Ms. Vitsaxaki. Upon learning of the secret transition, Ms. Vitsaxaki demanded that the school cease the practice. However, the school continued, leaving Ms. Vitsaxaki no choice but to withdraw her daughter from the district and enroll her in a private school.

WILL Deputy Counsel, Luke Berg, stated, “Parents, not schools, have the fundamental right to raise and educate their children. Schools have no business deceiving parents and making life-altering decisions for their kids behind their backs. The trial court’s decision is wrong and should be reversed.”

WILL Testifies in Favor Open Records Transparency

WILL Deputy Counsel, Luke Berg, submitted testimony before the Assembly Committee on State Affairs in favor of Assembly Bill 190, which would increase government transparency under state open records law.

Currently, Wisconsin's open records law limits the recovery of attorney's fees and court costs only to requesters who win in court. Assembly Bill 190 would change this, allowing for such recovery if a government authority voluntarily releases a record after a lawsuit has been filed. The bill passed the Senate and will head to the governor's desk upon passing Assembly.
