Earlier this week in Bangor, we heard from Jacob Norris, a Journeyman Electrician from local IBEW 1235.

At a press conference about Trump's spending bill in Congress, he told a crowd of reporters that the uncertainty of the federal clean energy tax credits has “ultimately [led] me and hundreds of other hard-working Mainers to not know where our next paycheck will come from.”

Jacob’s story makes clear that Maine is already feeling the disastrous impacts of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” and it will only get worse.

But, there's still time.

Congress plans to vote on this bill before the July 4th recess, and Maine Senator Susan Collins will be a key vote. Before the July 4th deadline, please join us and tell Senator Collins to stand up for Maine and vote NO on Trump’s spending bill.

The press conference also featured my colleague, Lucy Hochschartner, MCV’s Climate & Clean Energy Director. She joined Jacob in calling on Senator Collins to vote no on this reckless spending bill. She spoke about the need to protect the residential clean energy credits that are helping families to reduce energy costs and affordably stay warm in the winter – or stay cool during these climate change-fueled heat waves.

Our opponents have deep pockets and are pushing to pass this bill as quickly as possible because they know their policies are deeply unpopular. The public doesn't support cuts to healthcare or cuts to clean energy or the sale of our public lands or increased pollution. We can’t let them get away with this.
