This bill would invest in safe, affordable housing by offering grants to fix dangerous, outdated homes. We’re talking, leaky roofs, faulty wiring, broken heating systems, busted windows, energy and water loss — the kinds of issues that make a home unlivable.
We’ve seen programs like this work before: the Whole Home Repairs program has already helped over 2,600 Pennsylvanians — but more than 18,000 people are still stuck on waitlists. The Home Preservation Program builds on that success so that more Pennsylvanians can repair their homes, conserve energy, and reduce costs.
And friend, the need for this support is massive: -
Nearly 60% of homes in Pennsylvania were built before 1970.
- 1 in 4 voters has a critical home repair need.
- 1 in 3 say their utility bills are unaffordable.
This is not just about buildings — it’s about people. Without access to basic repairs, seniors, people with disabilities, and working families across Pennsylvania are being pushed out of the homes they’ve lived in for decades.
It’s time for lawmakers to step up.
We can’t let thousands of homes fall further into disrepair while families wait for help that never comes. Will you contact your state representative today and ask them to vote YES on the Home Preservation Program? |
